The Wrecking Crew

Was a group that I lucked? up on by chance, when I was 14 years old... truth be told. As I would be riding my bike around my neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago, when out of the blue... the wrecking crew called me over, for what I thought were directions to the weed house. However, it would seem that the Wrecking crew had something else on their mind, because when I pulled over on my shiney , new 10 speed... all decked out, with a rack, speedometer, air horn, wall to wall reflectors... which was the theme back then, and an ample supply of stretch bands... for tightening things down. They surrounded me... pulled out a pair of pliers, and started stripping my bike down. Which is arguably how they acquired their accessories for their bikes... as I'd seen them around.

Nevertheless, I bluffed... and called out to this Amazon girl; that used to like me ... that lived on that block, but undoubtedly she didn't hear me from half a block away. Although, it would seem, that it didn't matter, as the wrecking crew jumped back like I had pulled a gun on them... and gave me just enough room to hit it... and only loosing a mere two reflectors , in the process.

N, needless to say, I sounded the alarm... and as you can imagine, others followed suit; in a rather vigilant obsession. However, I never ran across the crew again, and quiet is kept... it's anyone's guess as to why. N, I have no idea what made this old memory surface, but when it did... I thought I'd share it. #justme
